Athlete Studio, a Dapper Labs ecommerce brand, needed a media partner to drive online sales of custom merch designed by its NFL athlete partners. Flynn dove in, creating a campaign for Super Bowl season when football fandom was at its peak. Our challenge? How to make the most of this critical sales period despite limited spend.

The game plan

After defining Athlete Studio’s ideal target audience, our media team got to work building the perfect campaign: 1) We dug into how the audience discovers new brands, pinpointing their top social platforms and streaming services; 2) We analyzed overall search demand for athlete merch, plus keywords and competitors; 3) We refined measurement; and 4) Implemented ecommerce pixels to track campaign performance.

The play by play

After launch, we fixated on performance insights and optimizations. We identified the athletes and tactics driving the most sales, quickly refined our media mix, and narrowed spend to the five highest-performing athletes. We also launched retargeting. And during the big game, we pushed our client to steal some screen time for less by using picture-in-picture CTV. Those who clicked spent an average of 10 minutes on the site.

Athlete Studio saw a 390% increase in ecommerce sales and 154% increase in organic traffic during the campaign. Our campaign delivered 31% ROAS overall and over 110% ROAS in its final weeks.
