ROCHESTER, New York, July 12, 2022 – Integrated marketing agency Flynn today announced the promotion of Bob Burch to Chief Media Officer, effective immediately. In his new role, Burch will oversee Flynn’s fast-growing performance marketing discipline, including all media strategy, planning, and buying for the agency’s diverse client roster.
Burch has helped clients get the most out of their media investments for nearly 20 years through comprehensive planning, analysis, and optimization. With special expertise in digital and a tactic-agnostic approach, Burch partners with brands to pinpoint the right mix of digital and traditional media to reach their desired target audience. He has led clients including MetLife, L3 Harris, Chase Bank, MassMutual, John Hancock, Frontier Communications, and Quest Diagnostics.
Alex Bennett, Senior Director of Performance Marketing at Quest, worked closely with Burch to shepherd his company’s media budgets and drive marketing impact through the pandemic, as well as launch Quest’s COVID-19 test via QuestDirect, their direct-to-consumer business.
“The business cases driven by Bob were data rich, clearly defensible, strategically aligned, forward-looking, and had the right guardrails in place to make all internal stakeholders comfortable,” said Bennett. “He’s an asset, and that’s clearly why Flynn made him their new Chief Media Officer.”
“It’s important to me that our clients know I’m here to help guide on not just the big strategic questions, but all the little executional decisions of activating and optimizing a strong plan,” said Burch. “All of it matters, and all of it helps us generate the best outcomes.”
Burch launched his career at Flynn in the mid-aughts, quickly climbing the ranks to lead the agency’s expansion into digital media. From there, he gained perspective as an account director at DAC Group and furthered his digital media expertise at Dixon Schwabl + Company, before rejoining Flynn in 2018. Since then, Burch has enhanced the agency’s team of media pros that do it all – from programmatic and DRTV to first-party audience building and activation.
“We bring an ‘audience first’ perspective to everything we do. The same principle applies to the client agency relationship,” added Burch. “Ultimately, I want to help my clients do the best work of their careers, so I try to focus on putting everyone in the best position to succeed.”
Burch is also an influential voice in the Greater Rochester business and advertising communities, currently serving as Awards Co-Chair at American Advertising Federation Greater Rochester and National Advisory Council Member for Virtual Enterprises International.
